Central Office Power Wire and Cable
Class I Flexible Strand Without Braid
Low Smoke, Non-Halogenated Insulation, Lead-Free and Silicone-Free, UL Central Office Power Cable. 105°C Dry as AWM, 60°C Wet; UL Listed RHH/ST1 90°C Dry, 60°C Wet, 600 Volts. Sizes 1/0 AWG and larger are UL Listed for CT USE. CSA AWM I B 105°C 600 Volt FT4.
This specification covers the construction requirements for low smoke, non-halogenated central office power wire and cable, insulated with Southwire TelcoHyde®. UL listed Type RHH/ST1 for use in accordance with the National Electrical Code. The construction of the wire and cable is in accordance with Telcordia GR-347-CORE and KS-24194™ and ATIS-0600017.2014, Underwriters’ Laboratories requirements, and the requirements of CSA for the FT4 flame test. Sizes 1/0 AWG and larger are UL “CT Use” (Cable Tray) rated.
Size: Sizes 14 AWG through 750 KCMIL • Single conductor.
Conductors: Class I (modified) bunched (8 and 6 AWG) and rope-bunched (4 AWG and larger) stranded tinned copper conforming to ASTM B-33 and Underwriters’ Laboratories requirements. An opaque Mylar tape shall be applied over the conductor to facilitate stripping. Class K copper used with 14-10 AWG.
Insulation: 105°C rated low smoke, non-halogen TelcoHyde® conforming to Underwriters’ Laboratories Standard 44, Subjects 509 and 758, and CSA C22.2 No. 210-11. In addition, TelcoHyde® complies with the requirements of Telcordia Specification GR-347-CORE. The insulation has a Limiting Oxygen Index of 35%.
Separator: On sizes 6 AWG and larger, a 1 mil clear mylar tape shall be applied over the insulation.
Surface Marking: Two sides of the cable shall be printed using an ink of contrasting color and with the following information: “SOUTHWIRE AIW™ CORD BRAND TELCOFLEX® II/KS24194™ L2 NON-HAL (UL) E18321 SIZE (AWG or KCMIL) 600 VOLTS RHH ST1 FT4 OR AWM 3578 60°C WET VW-1 — LL8825 CSA AWM I B 105°C 600 VOLTS FT4-ST1 YEAR TIME JULIAN DATE — MEETS IEC INCLUDING 60674 & 60332”.
Note: KS24194™ L2 printed on 8-750 only. For sizes 1/0 AWG and larger add "FOR CT USE" before "(AWM 3578)" on Sizes 1/0 AWG and larger. Sequential footage markings shall be applied at 2 foot intervals on one side of the cable.
Testing: Physical and electrical tests in accordance with UL Standard 44 requirements, Subject 509 and 758; and CSA Standard C22.2 No. 210-11 as AWM.
Labels: UL tags and labels shall be applied to all packages.
